Description
● All of the cherry tree varieties offered for sale at Prepper Gardens are good for USDA zones 5 through 8–a nice range of the United States–and require 900 chill hours. For the best fruit production results plant your cherry trees in a full sun location and in well-drained soil, but if you are located in heavy clay soil simply dig the hole twice the normal size to allow proper root development. The Bing cherry tree produces a nice sweet red cherry that ripens in the mid season, the Black Tartarian cherry produces a nice sweet black cherry ripening early in the season, while the Montmorency cherry tree is a tart cherry ripening late in the growing season. By planting all three you will receive cherry fruit for the longest amount of time during the season, increasing your yields and return on investment. Growing fresh organic cherry trees is much cheaper than buying cherries from the grocery store, making cherry trees a favorite among the Prepper community.
● Growing cherry trees is easy, and the fruit produced can be used for a wide variety of purposes that Preppers would find useful. The fruit is very healthy and can be consumed fresh off the tree, or can be halved and pitted to be frozen (lasting up to a year in a freezer), and/or dried or dehydrated (lasting up to two years in a freezer or one year in a refrigerator).
Cherries are great for long-term storage; they give you the added benefit of having healthy organic fruit to feed your loved ones all year round. You can use the cherries for healthy smoothies, baking, making jams or jellies, or you can simply can them. We offer two packages of cherry trees for sale here at Prepper Gardens: a sweet cherry tree bundle, which includes one six to seven foot tall Bing cherry, and one six to seven foot tall Black Tartarian cherry; and a sour cherry tree bundle consisting of only one Montmorency Cherry. With these you can go and harvest sweet and tart cherries in your Prepper garden. Sweet variety cherries are the only ones that need to be pollinated to produce fruit and we have chosen the two superior varieties, which will match perfectly to produce an abundance of fresh healthy organic fruit to add to your stockpile for doomsday.
