● Pampas grass grows in USDA zones 7 through 10 and prefers to be planted in full sun to light shade. The soil conditions are not too important, as the plant is adaptable to a wide variety of locations. If planted in heavily wet soils you will see the fastest growth. Ideally you would want to plant each plant five feet apart to provide for the thickest privacy-fence possible. This is an extremely fast growing shrub, and will produce beautiful white flumes in late summer through mid-winter (which can be used to start a fire very rapidly). This is a perfect protection plant as the edges of the blades are extremely sharp and will cut flesh–perfect for 24/7 protection.
